5 days and counting

Well after much research and talking to people I am a little nervous about my test. I wish I had a little more time to study but i'm hoping they explain things well in class and I hope I pass the tests. If I don't I can retake it eventually. I'm proud of myself for sticking with it. I think if I hadn't already paid for the class I would have given up already. Eventually I will be a personal trainer and hopefully I pass the test on the first try. Thanks for all your support. I'll let you know how it goes after this weekend.

Chapter 8 will be the death of me!

I planned out my schedule for the next two weeks. I should get everything done by the 28 and be able to study the next 3 days until class on the 1st. I planned for 2 days each chapter, and then I run in to chapter 8. It's almost 100pg long. I don't understand the questions on the study guide because the verbage is all crazy. So I skipped to chapter 9 and finished it in a few hours. That buys me 2 more days to work on chapter 8. The question now is when will I do it? I have CPR training in an hour. Then Jon wants to go to Wolf Creek so we can learn all about the timeshare we bought. We are staying over night and I need to get 9 hours of work in tomorrow. Maybe I should get off the computer and start working on it huh.
I talked to the personal trainer at my gym and she gave me a little insight on to what to expect for my 3 day class. That helped and hurt. But the 1st will come if I'm ready or not so I guess I better get ready.

Update

I'm on Chapter 8 now. If I can do one chapter every two days I will be done with the book by the 28th and can study the next 3 days. I watched the training video yesterday and learned how to do fitness assessments. That will be part of the test for my class. I think I will watch it a few more times just to be on the safe side. I also learned how to take body fat with calipers so if anyone wants to be my guinea pig after I get calipers let me know. It has a error of +or- 5. The digital ones are off by +or -3.5. On a happy note I'm down to 130.9lbs on the gym scale(meaning fully clothed). Stay tuned for more of my crazy adventure.

AARRGHHH

So I'm on Chapter five in my book. Only 9 to go. I didn't understand a word of chpt 2 and 3 except that I'm not a runner because I have more fast twitch fibers then slow twitch fibers. Chapter four is on how not to get sued for everything you own. I just googled it and they have personal training for dummies. Maybe I'll have to see if the library has it. I'm a little frustrated but on a happier note I'm down 2 more lbs!!!

They came!


I got my study guide, DVD, practice test and Theory and Practice book today. It's a little overwhelming. The book is written with words i'll have to look the definition up to understand. Does anyone know what the Valsalva maneuver is? And what exactly does it have to do with anything? I guess i'll find out soon enough. The study guide is broken up to finish in 45 days. I have 25 days. Better get a move on it. Wish me luck!

Monday 6/30/08

I signed up for the 3 day course to become a personal trainer and i took my measurements

I'm down 4 lbs now!
I need to work on my pushups and situps. I HATE pushups. I hope I get my study guide soon because I have a lot to learn before August 1st

Week 3

3 times this week again. Same workout except the time we went at 5AM or maybe it was 7 or 8. Either way it was early and I was worthless. Oh well at least I was at the gym and not in bed right? We went to do our body fat and Body mass index at the end of the week. My body fat is 23.6 and my BMI is 22.7. My goal for my Body fat is between 18 and 20. I looked up my BMI and that's where I should be :) I have also tried to cut out pepsi and I'm doing pretty well with Pepsi Max but I find I eat less throught the day when I drink regular Pepsi.-Go figure.

The 2nd Week

I have gone four times this week. We do the cardio glider for almost 3 miles and then do the weights and the ball. If I didn't have Karrie going with me every day I think I may have stopped last week. But I'm still happy and still going strong. I've lost 3lbs!

The first week

I worked out three times this week. Karrie comes and picks me up at nine on the dot and lends me one of her wonderful children to watch my two wonderful children. Thanks Johnny A'leese and Natalie!

The Beginning

Karrie Perry says "let's work out, I need someone I am accountable to so I have to work out every week"......I say " Ugh, I know I need to......I don't want to but for you i will do anything" Three work out sessions later I wake up and plan my day and realize I'M HAPPY! I was in "the dark place" as Meredith from Gray's Anatomy puts it. I didn't realize how bad I really felt until that moment. Well that one and when Jon says "You should work out more often. Your in a good mood. I like it" Or was it " What's wrong with you and why are you being so nice to me" Anyway I'm not sure when it hit me but I thought. Hhhmmmmm how can I always work out and feel this happy all the time.. I know- I'll become a personal trainer. So I tell as many people as I can so that I can't back out of it. I told some friends at a baby shower and Wham there's the promise of two clients on the spot! So join me on my quest to become a personal trainer. Happy inspirational positive comments welcome!
